A Game of Two Halves
League action continued as Erdington travelled to play Aston Old Edwardians 2nd XV.
After recent good performances Erdington were looking to make it three wins in a row, but didn’t get off to the start they wanted. An early quickly taken penalty gave Aston the lead. Conversion missed 5-0.
Aston were able to extend their lead shortly after following some good pressure. Missed 10-0.
Aston were able to score a third try to give them a solid lead midway through the first half. Missed 15-0.
Erdington got back in the game five minutes before half time as Cleggy scored. Converted 15-7.
Just before half time pressure from Erdington would cut the deficit further as Jacques Ralphs scored with an assist from Luke Badland. Missed 15-12.
Aston got back to scoring and extended this lead again shortly into the second half after a few phases. Missed 20-12.
On 70 minutes, with Aston camped on the Erdington try line, a well timed interception from Joe Ellor took him clear of the defence and able to run the length of the pitch to score under the posts and bring the scoreline close. Converted 20-19.
Erdington eventually took the lead with about 10 minutes remaining as Sam Bradley scored after a quickly taken penalty. Converted 20-26.
Andy Bricknall extended Erdington’s lead to more than one score with a penalty kick from 22 line. 20-29.
In the last play of the game. From an Erdington lineout 15 meters out, Joe Ellor scored his second of the game. Converted 20-36.
