Final preseason game
After a tough first preseason game last week, Erdington continued their preseason as they welcomed Handsworth to Spring Lane. Against another tough opposition, the improvements showed as Erdington’s tough tackling and scrummaging had their opposition working hard.
A difficult first half saw Handsworth take a 31-0 lead into the break.
From the restart Erdington were able to get the ball out to winger Jason Batchelor for him to carry to the corner for a try. Kick conversion by Dan Moran saw the deficit cut to 7-31.
The second half continued the same as the first with Erdington having plenty of good possession but unable to convert pressure into points. Despite the game ending 7-55, Erdington have a number of positives to take into the first game of the season.
FINAL SCORE 7-55
The real work begins next week as Erdington welcome Old Saltleians 2nd XV to Spring Lane in the opening game of the Greater Birmingham Merit League Division 1.
