Erdington’s form continues
Following their friendly game victory over Aldridge last weekend, it was back to league action for Erdington as they looked to continue their good run of form away at Yardley and District.
Erdington got off to a fantastic start with Matt McLaughlin going over for his fourth try of the season inside of five minutes.
The first half continued with great pressure from Erdington as they managed to score a further 6 tries through Dave Owen, Ashley Prosser, Jason Batchelor and a hat-trick from Andy Bricknall. With four of these converted, they went into the break with a lead of 43-0.
They were unable to continue the scoring in the second half and Yardley would take advantage by scoring shortly after the break following good pressure on the Erdington try line. With the conversion missed the score was 43-5.
The half continued with good opportunities for both teams but neither able to take their chances.
Just before the final whistle Yardley ran the ball from the own try line and despite good efforts from Erdington’s defence they would score under the posts. With this being converted, the final score was 43-12.
A strong performance from Erdington in both defence and attack which they will be looking to continue next week as they welcome Spartans to Spring Lane.
With a great performance capped off with three first half tries Andy Bricknall was named man of the match.
