Match Report

Another tough result in tough conditions

After a tough game last weekend, Erdington looked to get back to winning ways as they prepared to welcome Aston Old Edwardians 2nd XV to Spring Lane.

The day didn’t get off to the best start as weather conditions forced a change of venue with Aston kindly offering to host.

Erdington kicked off and were able to apply early pressure. They maintained field position, keeping Aston in their own 22. This lead to a try for Pav, who missed the conversion, giving Erdington a 5 point lead. Erdington continued to pressure and added a second try through Ash Prosser following a kick through by Pav. Converted to give a 0-12 lead.

Erdington then allowed Aston back into the game and a series of penalties led to two quick tries from close to the Erdington line. Both were converted to give Aston a 14-12 lead.

Aston continued to apply pressure and extended their lead scoring in the corner. Missed conversion left the half time score 19-12.

The second half continued as the first had finished with continued pressure from Aston. This led to another try. The conversion was missed to give a 24-12 score.

An Erdington resurgence toward the end of the game saw Sam Bradley score. The conversion was missed to leave the score 24-17. Erdington continued to apply pressure in the last moments of the game and got the ball down twice. However, both times were called back for earlier penalties which denied them a victory in the final minutes.

Final score 24-17.
