Match Report

A great team performance for a solid first win of the New Year!

League action continued as Erdington travelled to Spartans 3rd XV looking to build on the performance of last week in the disappointing defeat at home.

A close game was predicted with Erdington sitting 5th in the Greater Birmingham Merit League, just one place above the hosts. With Erdington getting the win in the reverse fixture, back in October, they felt positive going into the match.

However, it was Spartans who would get the first points scoring from a line out on 5 meters. Missed 5-0.

Erdington responded shortly after following a couple of tap penalties close the try line with Curtis Roberts running over to score. Converted 5-7.

A penalty kick from Dan on the 22 extended Erdington’s lead, 5-10.

HALF TIME 5-10

Early in the second half Luke Badland scored to extend Erdington’s lead further. Missed 5-15.

As the second half went on, good pressure from Spartans saw them get to within a try of taking the lead as they scored from a line out on Erdington’s 22. Missed 10-15.

Continuing to build on this, Spartans would drive over to draw level with 10 minutes of the game remaining. Missed 15-15.

With only moments left in the game Curtis Roberts would capitalise on a loose ball to score his second of the game and secure a hard fought win for Erdington. Converted 15-22.
