1. Why did you start playing rugby?

Started playing as a direct result of helping Dave with the kids in the very early days of Erdington’s rebirth.

2. How long have you played for ERFC?

This year will be my fourth season.

3. Why did you choose Erdington RFC?

I had no choice in the matter! My lad plays for the juniors and this is my local club

4. Any pre-match routines/habits?

At my age, an awful lot of pre-match stretching and liberal use of deep heat! A quick tot to keep away the winter chill doesn’t go amiss either.

5. Best rugby memory?

Catching the kick-off in my debut match away at Greyhounds. A great pick-up off my laces, if I do say so myself, starting a run and thinking that this rugby lark was easy, before being absolutely clattered by my opposite winger (a ringer from Hereford’s 1st’s). The rest is just a blur!

6. As a back, what’s your opinion on the ERFC forwards?

Fair play to them, they certainly put their bodies on the line for the cause. Plus our dominant scrum certainly gives me a welcome breather during games. Shame that when the backs are all lined up with an overload on one wing, the ball never comes as white line fever is extremely contagious amongst forwards!
