The coaching and management team have the pleasure in announcing that Luke Badland has been appointed Erdington Rugby Club’s captain of the senior team for the forthcoming season.
Luke has played for the club for a number of years and, whilst he is still only young in age, he brings an old and wise head in Rugby terms. He maintains a big presence on the field and has been a regular in the first team for a number of years. He was our vice-captain for the previous season and will argue that he still remains the only vice-captain at the club to remain undefeated.
The coaching team are looking forward to working with Luke in the forthcoming weeks and months with the aim of building on what the club has already achieved and taking the team forward into the new season.
A special thank you must go to our out going captain Phil ‘Cleggy’ Cleghorn for all the hard work he has put in, both on and off the pitch in the last few years. He has made my job as coach a much easier one and pulls the team together when needed. Thanks Cleggy.
Luke had this to say, “I’m proud to have been even considered as Erdington Captain, I’m definitely excited for the new season ahead and working with our coaches and the rest of the ERFC team. I’ve got some big boots to fill and an even bigger shirt to fill following Cleggy, but I hope to uphold his reputation of being a smooth talker when it comes to the ref and opposition. Much love, Captain Luke”
The forthcoming season looks really positive. We have a group of new players that are working really hard to bed in with our club philosophy and ethos, and a group of old heads that are working really hard in training. Competition for places is going to be fierce next season and provides a headache for the coaching and management team, but one that were are relishing! We are always on the lookout for new players regardless of ability or experience. If your interested and fancy a run out, for further details please contact the club’s website at www.erfc.uk
