The year kicked off with frosty start for the Spitfires Touch team with the first training session back from the holidays being cancelled due to the cold snap and frozen pitch.
Our first session back was 15th January which was very positive and well attended.
We managed to arrange a friendly Wednesday evening match at Moseley for 22nd January to get us focused on driving to achieve the level of competitiveness we aim for. The friendly was quite informal but well organised and Spitfires felt well received by Sam Peet and his team at Moseley. Spitfires had a good turnout that allowed us to make a full team with sufficient subs. We started with two 10 minute half’s which featured some good drives to gain yards and solid hands to move the ball. We ended the session with a last game where we mixed in with the Moseley crew.
Whilst some people managed to travel over to Moseley – other’s opted to train at home in the freezing conditions and enjoy a run out.
We’ve had a great first month back training after our winter rest and had a great turnout considering the cold conditions. Roll on lighter evenings and warmer weather!
Congratulations to our players of the week – Karen, Grazia and Cam.
This month we’ve also had team and club socials including a trip out to the darts, pie night and getting together to watch the Mens 6N.
